I was grateful I could get benefits so I could afford to live and pay bills, the solicitor used to update the recovery payments yearly.
I also remember about 16 years ago my partner had a major accident. We got a bill in the post which we had to send to the insurance company from the ambulance service.
What? What does this have to do with anything? You seem to have ignored everything I said.
Thank you to everyone else for the helpful info0 -
The CRU basically look to recover any benefits paid-out as a result of your injury. These include SSP, ESA, DLA (now PIP) and such like. as you had not claimed any, they have nothing to claim back.
I have had 2 industrial injuries claims and have not had to pay back a penny to the DWP as I had not claimed any benefits.Never Knowingly Understood.

The DWP Benefits can only be claimed at a like for like offset. So if you claimed for Loss of Earnings in your PI Claim and you are also receiving Benefits from the DWP for being unable to work then the amout that the DWP has been paying is deductable from your claim. The same goes for any claim for "care". However if you have a work benefit with the DWP but you are not claiming Loss of Earnings through you PI claim then there is no deduction, as DWP benefit cannot be deducted from your valuation amount for your injuries. The Solicitor will be aware of any benefits you may have with the DWP becuase the CRU Certificate is requested at the beginning of your claim and sent to the 3rd Party Insurer's as well. So there's no hiding or double claiming.0
