Using online calculators halifax offer £144k when saying about wife and kids but post office and tesco offer £200+? Is this correct and would this be in the region of what they would lrealisticlly offer?

Lenders set their own lending criteria and each has no baring on the others.
If you check other lenders I would expect the difference in extremes both high and low to increaseI am a Mortgage Adviser

As above, lenders view different factors in different ways.
So there are occasions where there can be a huge difference between what is offered with one or another.
So dont worry, just fine a lender who will lend what you need and to your situation and you should be fine.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. With no information whatsoever about your financial situation - how do you expect anyone to say what you are likely to be offered.
This is why brokers exist. For all you know, there are 1 or more things in your case that would stop Tesco lending to you, but if you blindly start applying directly then you will just have to take the gamble that you will end up with multiple credit searches before you get a DIP0 -
You are of course assuming you have completed the affordability calculators correctly.
Even brokers need to learn the nuances of the affordability calculators.
They are always more complex to use than they need be.I am a Mortgage Broker
