Wundaweb not working-any suggestions?

I used wundaweb to hem up OH's trousers but for some reason they never stay up for very long. Poor OH had to sellotape them at work yesterday! I'm pretty sure i'm following the instructions ok, what can I be doing wrong? Does anyone have any alternative suggestions? (not sewing tho :o)

Thanks

PS its money saving cause I went to John Lewis to buy a new packet incase it worked better. It didn't, and now I have a whole new packet, a few old packets, and I can't make it work....

probably means your iron isn't on a hot enough setting (including steam). What setting do you have it on?

I usually find that just using the steam setting isn't enough to make it stick properly so I use a damp teatowel instead.
I pin and iron the hem first, then I put the wonderweb in and put a very damp (more wet than damp really, but not soaking) teatowel under and over the bit I'm ironing and press down really hard with the iron on the hottest setting until the teatowel is almost dry. I repeat from the other side of the material (I like to be sure ;)). I've never had a hem come down on me yet - even after many washes.

I find that it doesnt stick for very long now - only a couple of washes and it comes down. A few years back and it would have stayed stuck forever.

Don't use this much nowadays (prefer to sew hems;) ) but when I did, always did it like Vampgirl. I'd leave the hem to cool completely before moving it too much, always felt it was "vulnerable" until it'd properly "set"

Have a go with a dry cloth and hot iron. Usually not sticking is a 'not hot enough' problem.

I think you'll save yourself a lot of time and money by just sewing them -trouser hems don't take long ;)

I stick in a couple of tiny stitches as well as using the wonderweb... so about 4 or 5 tiny little stiches at even intervals - I figure that between them they should hold it all up :)

Couple of little stitches, iron it on inside out if you're worried.
