Surely only having two battery chargers is the option, surely you're charging the first one when you've got it plugged into the mains socket. So you've achieved nothing really if its not attached to the laptop apart from the power used to power the laptop at the same time. But if you've got enough time to charge it in its 'own charger' then surely you have enough time to charge it in the laptop.

We got an adaptor to charge the lappie in the car so we can watch DVDs whilst camping.

Yes, but they are rare. HP do them for Armada for example.

You could always find a dead lappy that still charges batteries. You could loose the CD/DVD, screen, keyboard, hard disk, memory, pointer, etc just keeping the motherboard and plastics.

The reason I ask is that the connection has got very loose at the back of the laptop and is now almost impossible to connect via the power adaptor.
Acer said they don't cover it under the 1 year warranty and it costs £300 to fix.
That external battery won't work as it still connects via the same power connection.

It was 98p and the P & P less than £7. This is the one we bought.

I was after a solar charger for a laptop (a Sony), but none seem to exist.

Maplin.co.uk informed me none of their - quite extensive range - of solar chargers are suitable for charging laptop batteries.

I'd have to agree with everyone else: they're as rare as hen's teeth.

Can you confirm if it still requires plugging into the normal power connection of the laptop?
