Can I still claim my bank charges after so many years???

Hi all. please bare with me. It's long winded and im not the best at explaining things on paper!!!

About 5 or 6 years ago I wrote to my bank (barclays) about getting a refund on my bank charges (overdrafts. Unpaid cheques etc) I also included 6 years worth of bank statements highlighting every charge I uncured.
I received a letter back saying they were waiting on the decision of the courts before proceeding with any refunding of bank charges. A few months later I sent another letter to get this rolling again. I never heard back from them and with a growing family, marriage and house moves it has totally slipped my mind, until now!!

My questions are even tho I'm now looking at bank charges going back upto 12 years ago should I still be able to follow it up seeing as I already have a claim with them?
I also don't posses the letter they sent back anymore. Would there be some sort of record on their system stating that I wrote to them and them replying after all these years? Or am I screwed without that letter?

Many thanks in advance for your patience, replies and advice.

Michael

The banks won the court case.

All claims were closed following the the banks winning.
