I am not convinced you need one yet if you are prepared to keep working on research.
The issue might be that if the disposal date is prior to death then CGT might be involved no idea if CP gives exemptions.0 -
Thank you for your answers. I am a little better informed but still find the whole issue confusing.
I realise its a complex issue and very unusal for payment to come through years after DOD, for land that was taken compulsorily 2 years before death.
Any help appreciated - is there any books or websites you could recommend to help with my research.

A phone call to HMRC might be worthwhile, finding the number for IHT, eg if you did have to declare a revised value on the estate.Signature removed for peace of mind0

The HMRC manual is on -line and can be searched the problem is it might take some time to work out what you are looking for.
Thats why an "expert" may be worth some money they should be able to find the answer quicker.0
