Buying a House without Central Heating

I am in the process of purchasing a house with no central heating, it is only 20 years old. We have paid near enough asking price for it, it wa at 121,950 we paid 118,000. Now the story goes like this, all our searches came back ok and we aked our seller's solicitors a couple of questions and this was 1 and half months ago and we are still yet to receive the answer. Our solicitor has sent numerous reminders and still no response.

I rang the EA up the other day and mentioned this, so she rang their solicitors up and they said they had sent out the questions to the sellers. So she then rang the sellers up and they said they had no received anything about it. Its all a bit arsy farsy to be honest with you.

Next we was all planning for a completion of 26th of July and this was held off because we still hadnt received the answers to our questions and our solicitors would not let us sign till we got them.

Also the sellers we are buying off had to get a report done on the roof of the house they are buying, this has no held everything up even more. Dont know when things will be sorted or anything.

What i wanted to know would it be bad of me to request either central heating be put in or the money that it will cost me to be knocked off the house price being as nearly every house has central heating now days.

Thanks for reading all that. :)

If you offered £118k for a house without central heating, then that is what you will get.

Why should the vendor fit central heating in a house they are moving out of ?

Having said that, you can ask, but be prepared for a short answer.

I assume they never told you central heating was at the house or was due to be put in?! Which means you bought the house knowing full well there was none there - you cant then decide to ask for it as a condition of sale!

We bought a house 4 years ago with no central heating and actually found it much easier to get a new system put in with nothing existing than sorting out a knackered old central heating problem.
