Mortgage for people with recently closed DMP

Hi - I have recently sold my flat and cleared my debts with some of the equity from the sale.
I still have 40K to put towards a new property and am anxious to get back onto the ladder as the housing market is marching on and I don't want to find my family locked out of ever owning another home.
Has anyone ever secured a new mortgage after defaults - unfortunately both me and my partner are in the same boat.
Can anyone suggest any lenders to brokers to approach?
Thanks in advance

Obtain all three versions of your credit file (Experian, Equifax and Call Credit) and put them in front of an experienced independent broker after a factfind to establish your income and deposit.
Rates and loan to value will depend on age and size of adverse credit.I am a mortgage broker. How long ago were your defaults, for how much and who were the creditors (for you and your partner)0

Hi Thanks for answering - My partners were for about 3K (Managed loan) paid off in Dec 14 defaulted ages ago and Mine were about 16K DMP paid off in Feb 15 - I was only on the DMP for 4 years - If I had known it would have this ramification I would have struggled with them instead of going down the DMP route. I am not working at the moment due to having 2 v young children, so it would be my partner paying the mortgage for the next year or so....0
