The wep code is part of the router configuration. a lot of the ISP provided routers actually have the encryption key on a sticker on them somewhere. Sky, BT and AOL I know use this method.

If it isnt a router with a sticker on it he needs to find out the key off the person that configured the router.

Or, if you're like me, change it on the router because you can never remember it. So you change it so something you'll "definitely remember" but then forget 2 minutes later.

Sorry... just realised I've got no idea what mine is now, and I've just bought my daughter a DS for her birthday in a couple of weeks, and the last time I tried to add my PSP I had to change the damn thing.

If you log into your router settings you'll be able to see your WEP code...so you don't need to remember it surely?

But usually something along the lines of initials and DOB might be a good thing to have as unless there is something with a WEP code breaker sitting in a car outside your house more than likely you'll be fine.

Nope, makes me reset it. Remembering the password to get into the router is another problem...!

DHCP is the way that network devices are issued with IP address settings automatically with little configuration from the user. Your router is normally your DHCP server. My DS Lite was set to auto config I don't actually remember haveing any options to change away from DHCP. It is possible that your router may have DHCP switched off.

on one of the PC's that are connected to your router click start then run and type CMD in the box and click run/OK
on the black screen type IPCONFIG/ALL and hit enter it will give you the IP setting for the PC and tell you if it is set for DHCP use. in the line
    DHCP Enabled . . . . . . . . . yes or no
If yes then DHCP is working if no then you will need to check the router config for the DHCP settings most people use DHCP as its easier.
