Quotes on 3 bathrooms - puzzled by the prices

Hi,

We have plans to redo our bathrooms in our house- rip of everything - replace with new
1x small cloackroom
1x main bathroom
1x en-suite

Work estimated at 2-3 weeks
Received 3 quotes (w/o sanitary and white good which will be provided by me). So just the work:
4k GBP
6k GBP
8k GBP

I'm puzzled about such large differences. If there were mx 1k difference okay. But 2k, 4k differences I cannot understand. Especially that discussing with my neighbours with same bathrooms I was expecting the 8k figure.
Any rough feedback much appreciated

Thanks,
O

I would also expect a figure closer to £8k for a quality job, especially if there is considerable tiling.

Have they broken down exactly what they're doing for you? I'd want to see plastering on there and plenty of prep.

Plumbing, electrical work, first fixings, tiling, removal of suite, installation of new suite, rubbish removal, parking...

    £8k seems low to me.

  • I wouldnt say £8k sounds low for 3 bathrooms, esp if one is only a small cloakroom.

I'd say it sounds like the right ballpark.

A lot depends on what part of the country the OP lives in I suppose.

If the wiring and pipework are recent, this would lower the costs.

    Hi,

Thank you all for your feedback! Much appreciated.

    To answer your questions
    1. I live in Cambridgeshire - parking not an issue/cost

    2. Indeed the cloak-room is the smallest cost- all quotes are more or less quoting the same cost there

    3.
Floors - total 7-8 sqm tiles
Walls .~total 23 sqm tilles installation
However the rest of the wall needs to be made good/skimmed and painted
The ceiling needs to be boarded and skimmed - painted ~ 10sqm in total

    4. The 8k and the 4k quote include the cost of building material - adhesives, grout and trim and all pipework - but only the 8k offer has it broken out.

    5. adhesives, grout and trim and all pipework - cost per bathroom - for the 8k offer included
    small cloak-room - 150
    main bathroom - 650
    en-suite - 550

    6. House is from early 1980 - bathrooms never changed.

    7. skip included in the 8k price.

    Many thanks!
