Barclaycard Fraud Verification SMS

Just received an email from Barclaycard stating they are moving to an "SMS First" system of fraud checking for suspicious transactions before calling.

It does not go into detail, but presumably if you are contacted by text you will reply via a shortcode, which some operators charge for?

This isn't a new system Barclaycard are moving to, they're just reminding you how their current fraud detection system works, and are asking you to keep your contact numbers up to date.

Barclaycard text you if they stop anything suspicious, i.e. 'Purchase for £100 at Argos, text Y if you made this purchase, otherwise N'.

IMO their fraud detection is pretty good.

This is the same system that Nat West use on their bank accounts, I have been contacted using it after Christmas and it was very efficient. All was resolved within a few minutes, and I didn't get charged either by Nat West or my mobile company.

We want to confirm a payment made via Barclays Online Banking. You will soon receive another SMS from us that you will need to reply to (at no cost to you)
