Structural Survey

Hi,

Just looking for some advice.

We are awaiting a mortgage offer from Natwest, we had the basic valuation on the property done last week.

The report came back valuing the house as £0 as there appears to be structural movement. My partner is a bricklayer so we had a drive past and he said he can see what he thinks the problem is.

Natwest have requested a Structural Engineers Report to confirm the reason for the problem, MA thinks that we should not pay this and that the vendor should.

The vendor has said they will pay half, again MA thinks it should be the vendor but this is obviously up to us. The EA has said they think there will not be a problem, but my partner thinks there is.

What would you do? I don't want to pay as there is no guarantee the sale will complete or that they will do the work but i don't want to lose the house either.

I would be very grateful for some other opinions on this :)

    Paying half is fair, I'd go with that. If you think the survey will recommend lots of expensive work then just pull out of the deal.
