Restaurant owes - Free Meal?

Options
I have a restaurant that owes me money for some supplies, i have evidence of the order etc and they are continually avoiding me.
What would happen if i went to the restaurant splashed out on lots of wine and food and walked out without paying?
At the end of the day they owe me the money?

    Hi,
If all else has failed, issue a claim against them :

  • Trouble i have found with claims, it costs more money and sometimes they just pay the original debt and i end up with costs, debt is only £80 so rather try and get it another way.

    You get nowt for nowt.

However, the court costs are added to the claim and it is usual they are awarded to the claimant in the event they win that claim.

If you didn't get them, it sounds like you took this route before trying all other reasonable steps to recover the money first. As sourcrates said, court is for instances of "If all else has failed"

(Either that or you never followed the claims through)

I found this thread following a thread by the OP here:

In view of these two threads, perhaps investing in some professional buisiness guidance would assist you in the running of your business :)

maybe go for the meal, rack the bill up to roughly what you are owed and when it comes to payment give them your invoice! whats the worst that can happen?
Plan: [STRIKE]Finish off paying the remainder of my debts[/STRIKE].
[STRIKE]Save up for that rainy day[/STRIKE].
Start enjoying a stress debt free life.....now enjoying. thanks to all on MSE

Given the cash cost of serving a meal in a restaurant is probably only about 25% of whatever bill you run up (in supplies, the chef's time etc is probably a fixed cost anyway...)

Whilst your suggestion is quite funny i say dont do it.

You are running a business, treat the debt in a businesslike manor. If you have exhausted all reasonable avenues then issue the small claim.
    £1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000
    LBM 28/1/15 total debt - [STRIKE]£23,410[/STRIKE] 24/3/16 total debt - £7,298
