Beginners Questions About Stocks

Hi all,
I'm a student who's starting out in investing. I've read a couple of books. I have a few questions:
1. How many everyday people directly hold investments in stocks?
2. Can you get stockbrokers who cover stocks across ALL global exchanges?
3. Is there a resource detailing new companies that are about to be floated?
4. Can you trade options on any listing you fancy with any stockbroker?
