Thursday 7th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Good morning everyone, day 1 of me posting on the thread, did lots of research and reading last night so think I have got the jist of it, new start new way of thinking. There's so much I want to achieve for my family and know it's not going to be an easy ride but understand that to achieve I need to start somewhere snd change our disgusting habits and ways. Sorry for the long winded- ness, have no one to tell as me joining this site is my little secret escape of motivation whilst enjoying a cuppa! Anyway hope everyone is ok!
Today:
- check online banking (one account is scaring me at the moment because it's so close to the overdraft limit)
- small top up shop today - with list! That's a first!
- blitz tidy up in house - looks like a scene from a toy shop
- sort through some bits for bootsale planning on doing soon
- load of washing
- start a diary on here
Have a lovely day everyone! :jDesperate to save and clear debt
New start, new control, new aims
Even getting my head around the technology0 -

Thanks for the thread-start Ziggy
Well my Sky-cancelling didn't go to plan. We have Sky for phone and BB as well, so trying to cancel the sky part even thought we are not in contract with them for the tv anymore, means they are being a pain and putting the price of the phone/bb up as they reckon we have a bundle deal, which we haven't  Anyway, best we could do was knock it down from £46/month to £27/month. Better than nothing, but annoying.
Still no news from Tax Credits. Received an official letter saying they stopped my claim - I know, I have no money, thank you very much - and to await a response. Well, I have sent in every bit of proof they have asked for, but it doesn't stop you worrying about the outcome, and it just takes ages.
On a more positive note, my FB selling is going well and I have sold a lamp, an ornament and some more dvds and will have made another £20 by tomorrow. My house is definitely looking tidier!
Off to vote this morning, take the kids to school, followed by a nursery meeting, doctors appointment for blood results, then it's a cleaning day while hubby at work. Kids opticians appointments later which means a slow and steady walk on my poorly knee, but eldest is getting new glasses which she is thrilled about - bless...!
Got to go, but have a good day everyone:):)

For me, it's mean un-subscribing from all the marketing/selling emails - as a comper you tend to get lots and I don't want or need the temptation of offers/deals etc. But I've also noticed a number of brochures etc coming through the post so have made sure I've cancelled these too.

Morning all :j
Thanks for starting us off ZiggyHope you feel better soon.
Welcome Desperate2save, nice to have you along. Hopefully you can join us every day
So far today I have:
Made boiled eggs for breakfast to use some of our mountain - later I will give a few to nice neighbour who gives me parcels of salad trimmings for the hens
Strained the stock I made yesterday from a poultry carcase, used some for soup and put the rest in a plastic box for freezing when it cools down in freezer now
Bread maker on white loaf today
Spicy parsnip soup cooking on stoveOH and I ate some for lunch, and there is a bit left for one of us tomorrow
Still to do:
Check banks Done
Vote Done
Pop to sales unit while out, and see if anything new is needed, tidy up etc Walked to save fuel / for free exercise. Nothing needed today. I will do a major reorganisation on Monday I think
No spends needed again todayA couple of small spends, but they were business ones
Parsnip soup for lunch, and leftover lasagne for supper, with freshly cooked veg full up now
Hoovering and dusting upstairs, and wash the bathroom floor. I chose black and white tiles in a chequered pattern when I redid the room, which look great when just washed, and fit with the character of the house. BUT they show every speck of dust and really need doing every day  (they don't always get it though) [STRIKE]in progress[/STRIKE] Done
Plant out sweet peas later if weather not too horrible Done
Also made banana flapjacks and rhubarb crumble using rhubarb fresh from the garden
Stripped bed, washed linen and line dried it
Started a shopping list for Lidls tomorrow
Still got to water seedlings in conservatory, remake the bed and finish hoovering upstairs
Declutter recipe file later if I get all that lot done! I have at least got it down from its shelf ... Now done
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
