Stopping Tax credits

Hi

Our son is 17 and has just told us that he is leaving college, so I need to cancel Tax credits. It appears that last year my income was much lower than they were aware of would I lose any extra payments they owed me for last year. Sorry if it is a bit confusing

thanks

There are 2 elements to Tax Credits: Child Tax Credits (CTC) and Working Tax Credits (WTC).

Once you son stops education then it will stop the CTC and the child benefit. If working you could still be eligible for WTC. For underpayment as per blondebubbles comment.
