Lost Passport... then found it!

Hi,
Looking for some advice. I called up the Passport Office (IPS) and they weren't particularly helpful...
I lost my passport, or at least, I thought I had. It was actually mislaid in my home, so I panicked and processed online a request for a new replacement passport for my lost one (costing £72 quid). Now, I've found my old passport tucked away in my home.
I'm going on holiday in July and would rather not wait for a new one in case it's cutting it tight. I've received an Adult Lost/Stolen form but I've not completed it and sent it back yet, however, I did process this online - will I still be able to use my old passport? What are your experiences?
Thanks,
Chris

What does that mean?
Only the Passport Office can tell you if they've already cancelled your existing passport and, if necessary, whether they can reverse this.
I don't thnk anyone else's experiences are any use to you.0 -
I would not chance it because if you are stopped from boarding no travel insurance will cover you for this.
If it was me I would go ahead and apply for a new passport.0 -

You may well be okay providing that you've not yet submitted the paperwork and contact the passport office ASAP.
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/118566/lsr-team-policy.pdf (see pages 6 & 7)An LS record can be failed and any application to replace a passport withdrawn only if the passport was declared mislaid at home and the passport holder confirms in writing that they have now found the passport at home and they no longer wish to continue with the application. The applicant must also be asked to confirm that the passport has not been reported missing with any other organisation. The applicant must be advised not to attempt to use the passport until they have received written confirmation from the LSR Team that the notification has been failed.0 -
You've already paid for it so send it in with your declaration form and it will be processed as a renewal. send in a cover note stating that you found it at home.
If you withdraw your application you will not get your fee refunded0 -
I can't comment on the process for a lost passport, but my wife recently applied for a new passport using the post office 'check' service. She got her new passport back in 7 days (Saturday to Saturday). So there aren't long delays if you do it now.
I sent my daughter's passport renewal off last Tuesday (didn't bother with Check & Send) and new passport arrived Saturday dated as having been issued on Thursday! :T
