Parking on my drive

I have received a parking ticket from Redbrige Council as one of the back wheels of my car was half on the pavement, where I had not parked right up to the window on my own front garden. The other wheel was on my propety and there was about 4 feet on non-obstructed wide pavement

I have made an informal challenge which has been rejected.

The road has recently introduced parking restrictions.

Any ideas on how to challenge this

I am an unemployed pensioner and cannot really afford this fine

Thanks Jane

I got a ticket outside my house (my drive was blocked by an inconsiderate drivers parking!), my wheels were not on the double yellows but my front bumper was over them.

I think times like this we rely on the pragmatism of the warden but once the ticket is issued, there is no defence.

There is still every defence, e.g de minimis. Pepipoo will help, but prepare to take it all the way.

You can appeal the rejection of your first appeal. The Council should have given you details of the official appeals service and how to contact them.

It's the concept that something is so small and trivial that it should not be considered an offence, e.g. your tyre was a few inches on a wide pavement, your number was over the yellow lines by a tiny amount.

Sometimes it seems not to apply, a fag end discarded can still attract a fine, just the same as littering with something much larger.
