in Credit cards
After reading thru the very helpful advice given on this web site I've decided to do a balance transfer to shift my Visa debt which, although being managed, tends to stay too high. And I'm p'd off paying around 16% when I can get a whopping 10% lower by shopping around.
Any idea what sort of credit limit I might be offered? Silly question I know, my credit rating and income position is exemplary so there shouldn't be any major obstacles there.
I would ideally like this credit transfer limit to be c. £5K so that I can take full advantage of the balance transfer. If they come thru with a £1K credit limit would it be a good idea to call them to ask for a higher limit, or is that a big no-no?
Knowing my luck it'll be a stupid question because they will probably give me a £10K limit for starters anyway....
Cheers,
Rick

impossible to tell what credit limit you might get I think - however you will be unlikely to be able to raise any credit limit within the first six months.
Good luck and I hope you get the limit you wish0 -
I don't think anyone will be able to tell you what limit they'll give you. It'll just be a case of waiting and seeing.
For what it's worth, they gave me a £6K limit.Dave. :wave:0 -
Thanks for that. A 6K limit would be perfect.0

I have a M&S card and got a slightly higher limit than other cards before.
From reading on this forum if you phone up and ask straight away about a credit limit increase they may add up to an extra 1K otherwise it's the usual 6 month delay
I think it depends on who you get in the call centre and what kind of day they are having and if they can understand you and vice versa.
I've had problems just getting through to the call centre. A couple of times so far their system has been down.0
