leaking roof lantern

Hi all,
Had an extension built last year with one of these on the roof.

A year has now passed and during the very heavy rain at the weekend a few drops came through from where the central ridge joins the supports. Nothing serious, but obviously a concern.

Am wondering what to do because the lantern was supplied by one company and installed by our builder so they are both clearly going to not be keen to do anything and as it has only leaked once under extreme conditions, we would have no way of knowing if they have fixed it! The supplier was very helpful so I might contact them to see if they have any ideas, but I'm less keen to contact the builder as we didn't finish on brilliant terms and even if he came back and took it apart and put it together again, how would we know anything was different?

I'm thinking leave it for now and see if it happens again. Any other thoughts or advice? I know there are all sorts of sprays to fix leaks.

Many thanks! I guess a lesson to be learnt is get the supplier to install things like this as you then have a clear guarantee.

You know the roof leaks and this is not going to resolve itself. Recent weather is not storm force, or continuous heavy, rain for a day or so. Hence it cannot be deemed a satisfactory test.

If the roof has not leaked before, (and how can you be sure of this?) then movement, or settlement is a likely cause.

I have recently been involved with your scenario, and it took considerable energy, persuasion and effort to get the roof water tight. This involved Technical Support from the manufacturer, on site inspection and a willing labour force. So, try to get the supplier on your side with a site inspection, then take it from there. Technical Support may then be available from the manufacturer, but if the roof is an Ultraframe unit (which is a possibility) then you will not be able to call in this support without the suppliers co-operation.
