O/S Daily Wednesday 6th May 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, but damp underfoot but not raining at the moment, but rain forecast later. Load in WM, so that’ll have to go in the TD.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fish, jacket potato and veg, a choice of ice cream or cake for dessert. I remembered to get the pork steaks out to defrost – they are safely in the fridge, so tonight dinner will be pork, mash, veg and gravy.
Work as expected was manic yesterday morning but did then ease off in the afternoon, we’ll see what today brings. I’m only working until lunchtime then on days off, but DH and I are going away Friday morning, so I effectively lose a day so I’ll be really busy tomorrow trying to get everything done.

Have a good Wednesday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

Morning all. Feeling very grim this morning and had a lousy night. I had my op yesterday, after last week's postponement. The surgeon did a rigid cystoscopy, biopsies and bladder stretch. He said he could see nothing untoward causing the persistent uti's and hopes the stretch might help. Time will tell! He warned me I would feel battered and sore inside for a few days and he was right! I tossed and turned all night and kept coming downstairs for a wander round and trying to drink lots of fluids as requested. I foresee a long nap this afternoon. I'll be glad when time is up to remove the compression stockings, they are not very comfortable!

Have a good day all take care. Think we have rain forecast but it won't affect me as I plan on spending all day on the sofa! xx

Thanks for starting the thread nmlc.
Another flying post before I set off for work, I've made my packup, fed the fish & taken a cuppa up to hubby.
We had 2 of the DGD's for an hour y'day whilst DD went for a hospital visit, so she only had to take the other 2 with her.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

Still grey outside but, so far, much better than yesterday.

The only important thing I have to do today is to get to the Post Office and then got my two hour teaching session tonight. I did a bit of planning for it last night so am pleased that it's sorted.

Spent about an hour last night looking at clothes pegs online and still haven't decided on any. I really like the wooden dolly type, and the wooden springy ones but am worried about the wind here. Saw some stainless steel ones, lovely things but expensive, some hurricane force pegs and all variations inbetween. It's been so long since we've had an outdoor space or a washing line. Will need to decide soon, I remember the wooden springy clip ones breaking frequently.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning all,

Pouring and blowing a hooley here looks miserable outside. Off to work for me at least that's inside ! Think we might be making soup at work !

Dinner tonight will be some kind of pasta with salad I have loads of little bits of meat olives etc. to use up so will shove them all in a pasta !

We might be fostering a dog soon, I am still not ready for another permanent one but would feel happy fostering, I have been in touch with a really old friend who runs a dog charity and she is desperate for foster carers, so we might be giving it a go. We will need to be home checked to make sure we are suitable, I would love to look after dogs until their forever home becomes available and until we get our next forever dog !

Need to have a sweep through downstairs later and put a wash on.

    Have good days all xx

Just seen your post TA - I feel for you. Just hope today isn't too awful. It's difficult to rest up and drink loads of water too.

TA, hope you soon start to feel better.

Wet and gloomy again today, surprised there is any rain left after yesterday!

DS2 went back to Edinburgh last night after hoovering just about all the food in the house, he will be on his flight back to the NL as we speak. Good to see him, will see him again when I go out in July.

Washing on the airers, now have his bedding to do some time but will probably wait til the weather improves.

Running a bit late this morning as I was woken by the alarm which is very unusual. Take care. XX

Hi everyone. I'm new to this thread, but have been lurking for a while. I'm planning a day in today to get some stuff finished off before we head off on holiday on Friday -- need to start the packing and do some tidying so we can come back to a nice clean and tidy house.

Dinner tonight is going to be some kind of cobbled together vegetable tagine, using some leftover dried apricots, butternut squash from the Aldi super 6 and served with couscous. I think I'll half and roast the butternut squash first to save me the bother of peeling and chopping it up. In fact, I might roast the other veg as well.

    Hmm.....

Anyway, better finish my coffee and get started on the coffee.

Er... 'tidying.' I'd better get started on the tidying. Although coffee is probably more accurate.

  • Morning ((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

Wild and blustery this morning, I have a load in the washer, hoping to get it dry on the whirly between the showers.

Visit to the Drs this morning with OH see if he can continue to drive, I am also going to ask her about a referral to SS for an assessment.

DD2 has just done her last night on nights, she and DGD are off to Majorca on Saturday for a weeks R & R. She really needs it. Its her birthday at the weekend.

Need a quick side trip to the bank and Morrisons whilst we are in town.
