Isnt the first 2 weeks of the course at the job center then they may send you someplace else after.
Also how often do you have to go to your course is it a couple of days a week
I don't know how it works in your area, but the one I went to was in an ordinary office building.
You have to go Mon-Fri something like 9.30-4.000 -
And is all you do is CV building and interview tips everyday? or is something else invold?
i am going to be so bored.
Is it in a classroom like style?0 -

The first day I was there we did ice breaker stuff (you know, didiving into groups and talking about what you've found out about each other etc) what should/should not be on a CV and then a one to one with your advisor (you get assigned a member of staff to help you with stuff) who'll do a plan with you to decide how many jobs you will have to call/ send CV to every day/ how many interviews you'll need to have secured at the end of the course etc. There was also paperwork to fill in.
The second day was mainly jobsearch using the PCs and newspapers, and calling up adverts and stuff. You have to photocopy everything to put in your file as proof of what you've been doing each day. And then doing a new CV with your advisor.
I didn't complete the course so I can't help you with the rest I'm afraid. I think each day is mainly jobsearch but I think you also watch videos of how to prepare for interviews and stuff like that and you have regular one to ones with your advisor as well.
It is similar to a classroom when you're all learning stuff together (like what to put on your CV) We were in a big room with tables and a whiteboard. The Jobsearch stuff was done in a room with computers all round and tables in the middle, so a bit like an IT lesson really.
We got an hour for lunch and two 15 minute tea breaks each day, so the hours arent as long as you first think.
I hope it goes okay for you...do you know when you'll be going?0 -
i dont know when i start as i only signed on newdeal last friday but on this friday coming i have to do a seetec essential skills assessment.
Did you leave the course then and sign off?

Try not to go in with a negative attitude Ruud. I used to work for a Training Provider who had the New Deal Gateway contract, and they do try to make it as interesting as possible! A well as help with your CV, Job search, spec letters etc, (all of which the postage etc is paid for so that helps a lot!)many offer work experience in the field you are looking for, with employers who are looking to recruit. Can be an excellent way back into work!0

i dont need help tho i have a prefectly good CV from when i did in college checked over by tutors. i also dont like the fact you have to apply for jobs everyday even tho you know yourself its not for you.
What is the process of signing of JSA?0 -
i have just started new deal too. its a load of crap. i have a job but its just 16 hrs a month, so i really don't see the point in sending me on new deal. and i do not need to be told how to write a cv i got my current job by writing one so clearly i don't need to learn it. i have not even met my advisor like it said on the letter we were shoved into this room and talked at. whilst i was bricking it in the corner in btween some one who was becoming a pub bouncer, a man who looked like he needed to was his hair and some plank who came in late who then left earlier to see his probation officer!. its not as if i dont have a job. can anyone tell me exactly what happens in this stupid 2 week thing which cost half a weeks jsa to get to?0

Rofl...Sorry, I know this wasn't supposed to be funny but it did make me laugh! lol
Your travel costs should be refunded, so you wont have to use your JSA to pay your fayesthough, that's something at least.0 -
lol . well i phone the nuggets up today becuase i do have a job but they are saying i must go. what a waste of money. i can understand a few days of it but not 2 weeks. but it is bank holiday so i dont even see my advisor untill the tuesday after it and im assuming this 2 week course crap will start the following monday so that gives me 2 weeks to find a job .0
