Marks and Spencer Credit Card Limit Below Stated Minimum

Options
Hi

I applied for an M&S card a while ago and I just received it. The first thing I see when I open the envelope: "your credit limit is £100". It's my first credit card but that still seems awfully low, especially considering the summary table on the back of my credit agreement (the same as the one on their website under "important documents") says "minimum credit limit: £500".

Should I call up and make a fuss about this? Or is this a common introductory thing and it'll go up when I start using it?

Thanks

    Rather than making a fuss about it why not just call them up and ask why such a low limit has been set and ask how long it would be before you start seeing an increase.

    It may be an error, if it isn't they may still review the limit after talking to you. If it is correct it will probably increase as you use and pay it off.

    It does seem a bit odd that they have given a limit below their stated minimum; you would have thought that they would have simply declined your application if they were that concerned.
  • Just calling them up and asking about it was what I meant by making a fuss, haha. Turns out the limit is actually £1000, and one of the zeroes fell off the end of the page. A bit of a silly explanation but I'll take it! Thanks for the reply anyway :beer:

    Reminds me with my first credit card limit. It was an Access credit card
    I got in 1972. My limit was £150. However not sure what that equates to in todays money.

    Hi MABEL;
    £150= £1769.79.@ 6% per annum inflation till 2014.
    B.O.E calculator, not mine.:-)
    I paid less than that for my first house in 1972. £1200
    Seemed a lot then..
    It's all relative though.:)
