going to south eastern sweden for a couple of weeks this summer, any suggestions as must do's. we will have a car, looking at visiting Malmo and staying one night in Copenhagen on the way back - suggestions for a fairly active family two teenage daughters.
Go to Oland, swim in the lakes, pick mushrooms in the forest (make sure you get a local to show you which ones are safe to eat!), go fishing. Summers are usually lovely there.

You could visit the Ikea museum and the original store in Almhult, might be on your way.

Be aware of their odd licencing laws, you can't buy wine or beer over 3.5% in supermarkets, you have to go to state run Systembolagets in the main towns.

They don't have pubs as such, execpt in the main cities, usually just the odd hotel with a pub annex and perhaps only one or two in a average size town, usually none in a village. For eating look out for Dagens Ratt (set meal) at lunchtime, usually good value traditional dishes.

I visited Sweden with my children when they were teenagers, we went on an activity holiday staying in a complex of log cabins which was run as an outdoor centre, we had a great time canoeing, riding, orienteering, walking and doing archery and collecting the wood for back to nature saunas. Spent time negotiating the local railways to visit some towns other than Gothenburg. Found a good beach hear Falkenberg, visited the Tivioli Gardens and all in all had such a great time that we went back the following year. Food was expensive so made sure we had the Dagens Rat and did very little in the way of shopping to bring home. We found the locals extremely friendly and always ready to practise their English on us. A truly beautiful country.
