Paypal and bank accounts

Have just signed up for Paypal on my credit card but why are they trying to force me to have payments tsken by default feom my bank account?

Probably because it's cheaper for them to process.
Paypal will by default take payments in the following order:
PayPal balance
Instant bank transfer
Credit/Debit card
eCheque
If you want to make payments via credit/debit card you just need to select that payment option, instead of your bank account, when making a payment.
Or, just delete your bank account info from PayPal, then they'll use your card by default.0
