If you are considering using Payplan to put together a DMP for your debts (credit card, Overdraft etc)

and these credit card debts have been passed on the Debt collection agencies,

with Debt collection agencies, if no contact has been done with them by the debt holder, then they sell it on to another debt collection agency, (so pass it on)

eg, Westcott might pass it on to RobinsonWay

Eg, if a £3000 credit card debt has not been paid, the CC company pass it to the DCA Westcot

and Westcott write letters to the debtor, for them to make a payment, but if 3-6 months go and No contact from the debtor has been made to Westott, then Wetcott may pass the debt on to another company, say Robinson Way for example.

now Robinson Way will be sending letters to the debtor, to chase the debt, and Westcott have NO association with the debt.

now back to the original question, if Payplan is to do a DMP with the debtor, and the debt (say in the above example) is in the 'middle' of the process of being sent from Westcot to Robinson way

and Payplan contact Westcott (but they have very recently passed the debt on to Robinson way)

then what would happen? Would Payplan get a rejection letter from Westcott, and have to find out which company is now dealing with the debt? (ie, which company it has been passed on to)?

as sometimes, transferring a debt can take weeks/months for a letter to come to the debtor..

so asking, do Payplan do any 'chasing up' to whom owns the debt 'currently' to date?

or do they contact the original credit card company, to see who NOW owns the debt ?

(from the point of view, this would cause confusion with payplan right ?)

you go through a 'affordabilty' review with payplan them what you got coming, what goes out and whats left if what you can afford to pay. Payplan contact all the creditors with that information and away you go...

    mines currently £170 a month
