    Morning all,

Had a lot of rain in the night but it had stopped by the time I got up at half six. The sun is trying to force it's way out but my oh my are the winds strong. Some fences down (not mine) and being bin day, there are bags scattered everywhere!

I've caught DH's cold and have realised trying to clean through and dusting is really difficult when you have to keep stopping to sort yourself out!

I'm glad you had a nice day out Elona x

    Anyway onwards and upwards :)
  • Good Afternoon everyone, it's blowing an absolute HOOLIE out there today, the silver birch trees that line our boundary are almost bending double in some of the gusts of wind, not nice at all. I'm off to walk the Dockling in a few minutes and fully expect to end up on the Isle of Wight without having to use the ferry! It's destroying my apple blossom as well, not happy!!!

I went to the hairdresser this morning for a general prune and walked in looking like a dandelion clock, when I came out having been tidied and made respectable my hair was still damp but only for about 30 seconds, when I caught sight of myself in the Co Op window as I went to buy milk on the way home the wind had dried my hair standing upright on end, it looked like I'd had a major fright, how embarassing. I wonder what delights await us on our walk today, better go and find out.

Have a good one everybody, Lyn xxx.

    Afternoon all,

Very wet and windy here :( Sounds like a gale outside! Not looking forward to school run a little later.
Put up my plastic greenhouse yesterday...will see if it is at least still in my garden after work  I did put the growbag along the bottom to weigh him down- fingers crossed that was enough!
Busy weekend- luckily i managed to get the lawn mowed and finish oiling the decking before this winter weather came back.
Nice and easy tea: jackets spuds, ham and broccoli. Trying to use up things in the freezer. Need to get on and change/wash bed sheets, have washing to go away and the bathroom needs a quick wipe around. Should be enough to catch up and have the house 'looking' organised again ;);)

Hugs to any poorly ones out there! Stay safe and warm all xx

    Hello all,

Exactly the same here Lyn, the wind is dreadful, blowing down the chimney as well.

Judi, lovely photographs, everyone looks happy, I hope DH comes round in time for the wedding. You don't need an atmosphere on such a lovely day.

Elona I am pleased you had a good day, and so nice to be able to have a laugh about the goods times you all had together, happy memories.

Have a good day all and stay safe

  • The washing machine is mended, thumbs up to the chap the letting agents sent, he sorted it within a few minutes of getting here and charged me just £45. a lot less than the chap who wanted £125 just to come out and look at it!!

Bed linen has been dried in the wind and the towels rinsed and then washed, now out on the line. Phew no need to buy a new one. The problem was 2 fold. A small plastic bank bag and a 20p piece in the pump, once they were out everything worked fine, no problem.

I am so relieved. I was not really looking forward to paying out well over £200 for a new machine when we are trying to save the money for a move, if we get either an apartment or bungalow. We will have to pay 4 weeks rent in advance and also for the removal. so quite a bit of cash needed, just in case.

Well, it's been pouring down here all day, and it's cold too. Ironically my new rotary washing line arrived this afternoon, it won't be getting put up anytime this week!

I've had a really productive day so far and am pleased with myself.
    1. Sorted out all my monthly banking chores
    2. Got some compensation from one bank for their mistake
    3. Began to sort out nPower  they really are bad to deal with and I've trying since August to get this one thing actioned. May finally have suceeded.
    4. Asked uni for a transcript of my degree - been wanting this for ages and finally got round to it
    5. Parcelled up an item to go into an art auction in London - bought it in 1999 and now it has to go
    6. Installed my new HEPA filter on the vacuum, now have to use it

Must be time for a cup of tea?

Evening, wet and windy here first thing, just windy now. As rain has stopped wind has really got up. So glad I got lots sorted in the garden yesterday.
Elona you are so brave, nice to hear you had a day out, its good to remember and smile.
OS today has been taking packed lunch to work (too busy to eat most of it), DW is loaded and will go on when full tonight. No washing to do today. Dinner tonight will be LO pork, although I feel like having something little more celebratory, as today, after some scrimping and saving and with a bit of help from my mum, WE HAVE PAID OFF OUR MORTGAGE!!! We have been overpaying as much as we could afford each month and it would have taken us a few more months without my mums help, but she offered at the weekend to top up the amount so we could pay it off sooner. As it is we have now paid it off 4 years early, its a great feeling. I am determined not to go off the MS rails though as a lot needs doing to our house and DD is going to need extra financial help from us to get her through her final year of university. So I will stay in eat my LO and be very grateful.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.
