foreign students

can anyone offer advice on foreign students?
i`m currently in receipt of tax credits but am thinking of taking in foreign students, i was wondering if i have to declare this, if so how much am i allowed to earn in this manner before it affects my tax credit?
any help much appreciated

    I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd also like to know this as I was thinking about doing the same once my son leaves home next month :)

    If you recieve Income support, JSA, HB, CTB, then yes you do have to declare it. I am not sure about tax credits but I should assume so.

    right guys, following my recent post regarding foreign students, i bit the bullet and called the tc helpline on behalf of a "friend", i explained the situation and was told that so long as it was £4,250 or less then it would`nt be taken into consideration on my claim, you can earn this amount tax free as part of the "rent a room " policy.
