Thanks for all the replies. It does not seem very democratic that if a person is in a safe seat things are already decided....

Ashcroft had it down as a Labour sure thing in May last year.

ElectionForecast have it down as a 97% chance of a Labour hold.

I think UKIP will be the result maker for this seat ..not winning, just how many of the old Labour or Tory voters switch sides depends on the votes they lose.

The town is evolving ..slowly, and is becoming more white collar and therefore more Tory ..Still not a big number ..But far more than a few years ago ..will be an interesting one to watch.

I voted Lib Dem at the last election because they were committed to proportional representation and I thought that this the fairest option. When it came to the referendum I voted against.

I did so because I felt that Clegg was in a great position to demand a proper vote on a proper system of PR but he bottled it. Instead he joined a coalition and got involved in a tawdry deal over other matters.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

I'm supposed to be in an 'ultra safe' but Lord Ashcroft disagrees. The joys of being a voter in Scotland. Interesting times......
