james villas - the best option for a package villa hols?

We are looking to book a holiday for the oct half term. We can depart on 20th/21st Oct for 7 days. We are looking to book in the canaries or cyprus.

However, I think we've left it too late for a DIY as the flights are really expensive, the cheapest I'm finding is over £200 each and not on the exact dates we need, so I tried James Villas.

Has anybody used them? they've got a couple of packages including flights on our dates that are coming up at less than £1000 for 4 people, which seems reasonable compared to what else I've seen!

Are there any other companies that do flights & villas together?

We used James Villas last summer but just for accomodation, as we had booked cheap flights but had no-where to stay,they were very good, you can save a bit by getting your own insurance and maybe shopping around for a hire car as opposed to taking theirs. The service from James was very friendly and efficient, I rang to confirm my booking had gone through and had a friendly chat with a girl who told me where the key would be hidden, under a flowerpot in the front garden would you believe!! They also e-mailed me very precise directions to the villa. They do have local reps but they tend to leave you alone to get on with it which suits us. I would have no hesitation in recommending them, they seem quite expensive compared to DIY usually but do have some very good deals too.

Yes they do seem expensive villa wise but it's the flights that is making their package cheaper than what we seem to be able to book DIY. The flights I've found on their own are really expensive, it's not worth going for a week to be honest.

So it's looking likely we'll have to use them.

I've got a couple of other options left to try for flights though.

i am off to ibiza in october with JV £299 for a 3 bed wit pool. i got the flights via First Choice (easyjet hadnt released theirs yet!) and they were cheaper than the same flights JV was selling. My sister is also going so I have booked a 2 bed appt with pool for £185, £50 each flights with easyjet so all in all a holiday for 4 at £100 a head.

insurance for 6 was £20 through insure for travel, again massive saving on James Villas.
