This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Judi, thanks for starting the thread, lovely to see the pics of your family.
The fish have been fed, hubby & I have a cuppa, I'll do breakfast soon.
Hubby will be in the garden today, I'll be doing housework & more decluttering of my sewing room.
Hubby is treating me to lunch today, not sure where yet.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good Morning everyone, nicer here today milky sky and some sunshine but definitely warmer, perhaps even warm enough later on to have lunch in the garden, wahay!!! He Who Knows and that hound are out walking and I'm about to tidy and vacuum the house. We're having a frugal day today so Spicy Indian Scrambled Eggs on toast for lunch and Mushroom Risotto and salad for supper along with the obligatory roasted rhubarb with orance for pud. I have all ingredients for today so no need to venture out other than to walk my boy this afternoon. I'm much rested after a good nights sleep so much more positive today and thinking I'm going to try to tweak our weekly menus to have a couple of days like today where I 'use up' rather than buy in and adapt recipes to what I have in the fridge/cupboard rather than go to get a specific missing ingredient. I am going to become Mrs Adaptable!!!0

Morning all,
blimey me starting the OS thread twice in a week... unheard of it is.
Had an eventful day yesterday. War and peace in one day and hubby stuck in the middle of it.:D Thank goodness he's back at work today.
The girls, Sj and me went to see Sj's oldest cousin yesterday and his Mum. Sj took to his new 'Auntie' immediately and followed her round like a little sheep. It was the first time I saw the girls relax since they got here.
We didn't take Grandad with us as he was on the naughty step for calling one of our daughters friends an 'old bird' on her Facebook. She handled it well but both me and my daughter was mortified! Since he's not too keen on his new Grandson, I thought it best we leave him at home in case he was on a roll.
Managed a quick clean last night after the girls had gone. The dog hairs were piling up.
Not sure what we are doing today. I need to get a few groceries but I shall obviously be spending time with my daughters and hopefully both Grandchildren as my youngest daughter isn't at work today.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day allThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning :hello:
Our wildlife trust and local animal shelter held a fun day yesterday, which included a dog show. I wanted to go but although Scampi is improving, he still barks at most other dogs when we're out and about. I can imagine the chaos we'd have caused if we'd turned upMaybe next time.
My lists are sorted, quite a few things were crossed off because I'd already done/fixed them. My 'wants' list seems to be getting longer though
I have a new customer for eggs, she wants at least half a dozen per week but more often than not, a dozen :T
We picked eight large caulis yesterday, had some with our tea, they taste amazing. We've tried to grow them before but they almost always fail, so I was thrilledThe chickens feasted on the leaves.

Morning everyone.
Sunny in Glasgow. Makes a change.
Back from the fleshpots of London, trains took forever yesterday and I spent almost eight hours on them. Was in bed here by eight thirty and slept through until seven this morning.
Just showered and sitting in my towel. I'm taking mum into town as she wants a couple of things. Once we're back I'll head back up home. I really need my own bed and no more people. Life in my field is preferable to life in London. Mind you we did see the London Eye lit up in pink which was nice.
I'll pick up some things on the way home, just milk and some vegetables. Still not having sugar, well apart from yesterday when I ate three chocolates after the journey to Glasgow. I blame the stress!
Judi - I hope you can ignore the negative stuff around you. I know you are enjoying seeing your family again so make the most if it. My time with mine this weekend made me realise how much I miss them.
Right, need some clothes on and my wee suitcase re-packed ready to go.
Hope that everyone has a good bank holiday Monday.0 -
Morning All
Sunny spells here, hoping it stays dry as I have quite a bit of washing to dry. Yesterday was awful, it rained, rained and then rained some more. On top of that it was really cold.
Went to meet DS2 yesterday, had a mooch about the car boot sale (bought 3 dishes for my vintage serving dish collection!), met a friend and we all went for lunch, a cheap and cheerful asian place and it was lovely, very warming but far too much!
Friends came for dinner last night, good to catch up but I forgot the yorkies in the oven and they burned. Still, we had loads to eat so not a problem, but they were beauties, really tall too.
Judi, Soldier is a handsome chap, hope he enjoys meeting all his family, shame your OH isn't playing fair.
Elona - you are in my thoughts.
DD has taken the car to work today as bank holiday trains aren't any fun, DS2 and I will probably go for a walk, maybe get lunch or a coffee.
We have one of his childhood friends visiting this afternoon with her baby, should be fun.
Enjoy this bank holiday Monday. Take care. XX0 -
Hi all,
Just catching up on all your news.
I caught DH,s 'man-flu' and went down hard from lunchtime Saturday, went to bed and got up this morning, basically slept for 30 out of the past 36 hours - so much for a busy BH weekend catching up on jobs.....
Menfolk appear to have survived on toast based meals looking at the state of the kitchen, I didn,t eat at all, so I will do the roast I was supposed to do yesterday.
Need to go and buy a cauli, but might scare the locals with my bright red nose and patchy, shiny face - not a good look.....
Hope your all having a more productive weekend xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Good Morning Everyone,
I do hope that everyone is well, if not, then you have my very best wishes.
It looks windy but bright outside today, i don't think it will be a day for laundry on the line as i will would have to collect it from the middle of the fields.
I didn't really have a nice weekend as DH or rather for now H was being a bit of a self absorbed idiot over the whole weekend. We haven't been able to discuss it as DS has been around the whole weekend. Never mind i am sure we will get back on track, i know that over the years my behaviour has been less than perfect at times. The joys of marriage!
I have my usual big list of household chores to get through today as well as some prep work for tomorrow as I am out to my patchwork club tomorrow. I am not much in the mood for doing anything but i suppose i better make a start.
I hope that everyone has a great day

Morning all, hope you have a good BH.It was beautiful earlier when I was out with Lyla but is clouding over now.I've washed all her blankets too so hope it doesn't rain before they're dry.
I got a bit more house packing up stuff done yesterday, put some bedding and winter clothes in vac packs which DH has taken over this morning. He's doing more tiling in the bathroom today and hopefully the plumber will be here this week.I can do without a kitchen when we move but def not a bathroom :D
I tackled the kitchen floor here yesterday, its deffo cleaner than when we moved in ,even though the landlady had cleaned as the house had been empty for 5 months. The tiles have little pits in them and if you just go over with a mop it doesn't clean them.I thought it was part of the speckly pattern :rotfl:but yesterday I thought the grout was looking mucky so I got the hand held steam cleaner out and a scrubbing brush & soap and blasted it.My back was killing me but very satisfyingI'm going to do some more kitchen cupboards today and pack up some equipment I dont use very much.
DH isnt at work this week so he can work at the house,I'm hoping lots more will get done with all hands on deck.I cant go all day cos of the pooch and she can't go yet as the garden fence isnt secure.
Tea will be beef stew and dumplings.Tomorrow I'm going to batch cook some more to freeze for after the move,I'll be able to heat it up in the Remoska.Right better go and do something useful
Elona, sending my best wishes for the difficult days ahead.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
