Returning electrical

I've recently purchased an electrical item, listed as brand new.
It turned up in the anti-static bag with the seal broken,so potentially not 'brand new'
Never the less, I fitted said item only for it to be faulty.
Ive requested a return,to be told as its electrical they wont accept a return.
I'm about to open a case, but judging by the sellers attitude,i've a feeling when I return it,i'll get the old 'that's not the item supplied'
How can I minimise the potential for this should it happen??

There's not a great amount you can do. Send it back tracked. Take some pictures, although if the seller is being a **** that won't help, but Ebay may take them into consideration.I've recently purchased an electrical item, listed as brand new.

To say they won't accept a return on an electrical item is quite ridiculous. These kind of sellers are always worth reporting to Trading Standards..0 -
Most sellers are signed up to managed returns so eBay should provide a postage label after you open the return (assuming the seller is in the UK and the item isn't too large).
The case has the tracking for the parcel built in and you can raise it to eBay after delivery for a refund if the seller doesn't action the refund within x days.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
