Just Add Fuel Peugeot

I have a number of issues with a peugeot just add fuel car i had. Please please read if you are thinking of getting one as i really would not advise it at all!

#1 The contract states in similar words that, you may cease your just add fuel and hand the car back with nothing more to pay, providing that you have paid X amount already. I had paid X amount already and this was confirmed to me over the phone. When the paper work was sent out to me they said i had to pay about £250 to them. I queried this over the phone and was told it was for gap insurance. I dont know what that is, and i never signed up for it. Neither Peugeot insurance (or the underwriters as they keep referring to) or peugeot themselves can explain what this is and I have been passed from pillar to post numerous times

#2 I gave back my car over 2 months ago now and i have a new car with insurance with LV. At the time i called peugeot and asked them how many no claims i had. They said I had 11. LV have asked for the documents to confirm this and now I have been told I actually only have 4.

#3 As i said i gave the car back over 2 months ago and signed the paper work needed, photocopied it all, and a guy came to collect the car. I rang peugeot insurance today to query why they told me i had 11 years no claims and not 4 and they said, "oh you havent cancelled your insurance yet, you needed to call us separately". Now that wasnt in any of the paperwork i had and i was not told that over the phone

#4 Their servicing that you get with the just add fuel doesnt cover brake pads or brake discs

#5 There is a known issue with some peugeot car's brake discs. mine is one of them clearly but the model, OR, my batch has not been recalled. I took my car to the robins and day branch in liverpool complaining that there was an issue with my brake discs. The guy took it round the block, with me in it as requested, and deduced, WITHOUT looking at the car, that it was my brake pads. As i said i was getting it fixed elsewhere because their prices were too expensive, they said they werent going to look at my car at all. I found this a little odd that they let me drive away with it as i took it down to kwik fit and found that only 1 square inch of my discs were in use and i could have had an accident at anytime. You might be thinking and so what, but i only had the car from brand new for a year and a half. So this is obviously an issue with their discs that i think they knew about and thats why they didnt want to even look at them

#6 Peugeot took my last monthly payment for the car, and then arranged to collect the car for 3 days after this payment. I didnt get a refund for the rest of the month, so I paid a monthly fee only to have the use of the car for 3 days. how convenient

#7 if you fancy having your ego massaged i suggest you go to peugeot robins and day in liverpool. they are all suited up and look the part, but trying to get any actual answers out of them is fruitless. They seem to love evading questions. Dont take my word for it, google them, as i have seen similar comments on one of those review sites

#8 if you do decide to get a just add fuel car, check what type of contract it is, because, if you want to own the car at the end i have "heard", but cant clarify, that you have to pay a monthly fee of around £15 to carry on using the car, on top of the cash you must pay to buy the car off them at the end of the contract, assuming you want to buy it.

All in all, i would not advise anyone to get a just add fuel car. A new car doesnt need an MOT for 3 years so when they told me that that was covered in the price i must have been stupid to not realise that it didnt need one. The service plan doesnt cover brake pads or discs which i think is a little odd but there you go. Its cheaper to buy a car on a monthly finance plan.

Its the only way Peugeot can clear the forecourts of the junk they sell.

Just for future reference. Kwikfit fit love to deem brakes "dangerous" at the best of times, and especially when an angry driver arrives wanting to have a moan about dealership service. For some reason people always take kwikfits word for it over a dealership or garage, I don't get it.
