Starting to think I wont get a bank account untill i'm discharged

There is no Coop near me
Would you really need to go into the branch on a regular basis? I opened an account with the Co-op. My nearest branch is several miles away, but I've not needed to go in there since opening the account because you get an Electron card which allows you to pay for goods online & in shops, & also withdraw money from ATMs. I can also use internet banking & pay bills by direct debit, so there's no real reason to go into the branch. :)

    Hi all

Going to try to look at my credit with Experian and see what they've got on me.
Been intouch with the OR they have no record of any ccjs against me as i arranged with my creditors a "nominal payment" untill i went BR.

I'll keep you posted and try Co-op once i figure out whats against me
  • after a long spell of ill health, I was forced intro a corner and was left with no other option but to resort to Bancruptcy, which resulted in the complete loss of my financial identity.

For everyone out there who has gone down a similar path, don't waste your time with Abbey National (Santander Intl) as I was told by the Accounts Manager that in 90% of bancruptcy cases the only thing they will offer you whilst a Bancruptcy order is still active is a basic savings account without counter service. not the most effective way to manage your finances when struggling to get back on your feet.

I can however satisfactorily report (as others have done - many thanks to them!) that Halifax are very helpful in these situations and gave me a bank account with minimum fuss.
