    Hi,
Friend has just used Debenhams to exchange money. She used a code she got with money supermarket go get a super rate.Haven't used them myself as I have a Clarity Card.Think Debenhams may have only started doing travel money.

Always hear of a 'super rate' but nobody mentions what the rate is exactly

Don't want to annoy her at minute as she's probably at the pool. Will text her later and find out what rate she got. Hopefully she'll remember what date she got her euros .If it's any help I know she also got £5 off a £20 purchase in any dept in debenhams with the code.Remember her saying she bought a pair of trainers reduced from £35 to £22.50 then used the £5 voucher to get the trainors for £17.50.Will let you know as soon as I know.

Hubby just told me not to ask my friend if she remembers what the exchange rate was 3 weeks ago when she changed her money. He's probably right I would be saying"Do you know what Carol just asked me?"if positions were reversed.
So I looked up today's rates for you all.
I've just based rate on Clarity Card ( Martins favorite method) is 141.19.
Debenhams 137.16 with code found on money supermarket .You also still get the £5 off a £20 spend when using Debenhams.Though not sure how long this £5 off is valid for.
Post Office 133.96 this is when you order online not sure what in post office shop is.
Hope this is better for ballyblack than the answer I gave this morning.

I don't have acces to the Clarity Card live rate

I use XE Currency to get the midprice rate (updates every minute)

From this you can guess most of the other rates which will be 5p to 1p under

I understand Halifax Clarity credit card is very close to the Mid Rate but unless paid off in full attracts a high interest charge i.e. 19%

That's an annual rate - 19% would be about 0.05% per day (the actual interest on my Clarity card is more like 13%). So if you pay it off reasonably quickly the interest will be tiny.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

I guess Halifax is hoping you don't manage to clear the balance like some people......that's how they make money

    Hi Ballyblack
Think that's what all credit cards hope for.Personally I did what Mr Lewis suggested and keep my Clarity Card in my holiday purse with my EHIC card and any loose foreign currency I have.As soon as I withdraw cash abroad I go online and transfer money over to cover withdrawal from the account I would be using to buy my foreign currency.Find the exchange rate on the cc is usually more than worth any hassle.:)
