how good are the soft searches - in your opinion?

When I used the 'soft search' facility I got a 6/10 chance of being accepted by MBNA. They declined me after performing a 'hard search.'
I can't remember the figure quoted for the Santander 123 23 months 0% on Balance Transfers and Purchases (it was a lot lower than MBNA) but they accepted me with a £2,400 limit. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I don't rate the MSE pre -checker either. Just done it and it says I am only eligible for the Capital One card designed for poor credit scorers. I don't have a damaged credit file and have lived at the same address for several years.0

I tried the MSE soft search and no real joy, though I was shown as an excellent prospect. I ignored it anyway and 4-6 months later I tried the new capital one soft search and I was approved for a £1k card, now this will like the others will be paid off in full by DD each month. I am 6 months away from my bankruptcy being removed from my CRF's. Now before you all jump down my throat I will use it for items such as fuel and rebuild my rating (for what its worth) even though it is showing as excellent.
I did not make myself bankrupt it was another agency for the princely sum of £980.00. Thats in the past and all is good.I love green dots :T I hate red dots :mad:0
