BEWARE! uSwitch collective switch plan
Options
I've just tried out the uSwitch collective switch plan as suggested in this week's email.
I got all excited when I first saw this after filling in all the details:

Unfortunately, they won't actually show you the plan unless you then sign up to uSwitch, giving them your email address.
Anyway, I pressed on, and after signing up, I received an email stating:
I am? I thought I was just signing up to see the exclusive collective switching plan details.
Looks like I'm now subscribed to an alternative to the MSE Cheap Energy Club too

Oh well. pressing on further, I am presented with this:

To be fair, if you continue to scroll down, it then becomes clear this is actually an ONCOST, not a saving.
Conclusion:
Beware of the sneaky & misleading tactics uSwitch are using to tempt you with savings that do not exist and to sign you up to their "monitoring service"
If you do sign up, and don't want to be pestered with spammy emails, choose the unsubscribe option in your account that you have created.
... or better still, do as I did and use a throw away email address to sign up with.

To be honest its much better than CEC, as you seam to get an email within 24hrs of a better tariff being available.
The collective switch isn't very good though.0 -
Why not use a second Gmail/Yahoo/Hotmail email account for disposable sign-up requests?0

But who would bother switching to save only £39 per year.
Use one of the comparison sites such as ukpower and get cashback as well.
I have got quotes from several collective switches over the past few years and the savings are never as good as I can find via the comparison sites. They seem to be aimed at people who cant be bothered to do their own research.0 -
But who would bother switching to save only £39 per year.
Take a look at the credit card boards - lots of people over there scrabbling around trying to save 1% on things.Use one of the comparison sites such as ukpower and get cashback as well.
uSwitch offer 6 bottles of free wine rather than cashback for a dual fuel switch (using special MSE link)0 -
And £39 is only an estimate of what you might save, it might end up less.
I would rather have cashback money in my hand than 6 bottles of wine that will end up going straight down the !!!!er.
As I explained I would not touch a collective switch because the ones I have tried quotes for have not been the best deals.
It's all about picking the best deal at the right time of the year.0
