Best for Disney USA?

We're taking the grandkids to Florida next year. It will either be 2 weeks in late May/beg June or else 2 weeks from around 23rd August. (We're waiting to get final school holiday dates - usually they go back a week later than everyone else after the main summer holiday and the late May bank holiday and so we're hoping that that might make it a bit cheaper)
It wil be 2 adults and 2 children (7 & 5) flying from Manchester. Ideally we'd like self catering but not too far from disney.
Can anyone recommend a good USA specialist and/or recommend accomodation (we were looking at Fantasy World Resort Kissimmee but can only find one tour operator doing it)
Also any tips on getting Disney Park Tickets in advance?
Thanks

    I'm a dibber, it's a great site.

They also have villa rentals on there.

Personally, if you are saying, not too far from Disney, the Fantasy is not for you. Type it into Google maps

    Happy planning

I visited the Fantasy World in Kissimmee years ago -I've just checked out the reviews and nothing much seems to have changed.

Well located for both Disney *and* Universal (you can get properties closer to both but this is a good compromise for both), good pool facilities and a limited free shuttle to both parks. The units are basic but adequate -and unless you will be spending a lot of your time in the apartment (unlikely in Florida you'll be out and about or at the pool) it won't be a problem.

If you don't drive or don't want to drive all the time it'd be a good choice as a car although an advantage would not be an essential unlike some other resorts.

Not featuring in many UK brochures for me is a plus :D I don't especially want to be surrounded by Brits when I'm on holiday in the US ! Some hotels are all Brit - a friend was in her Orlando hotel and was stopped in the lift by an exasperated mother who said to her "Will you please tell my son that your daughter is NOT a prefect from his school" My friend replied "I'm sorry but I can't- because she *is*" LOL

There plenty of ways to book the flights and this property separately and worth doing as a package is not always the cheapest option . Always cost it both ways.

I'd stay there again especially if I wanted to avoid driving every day.

As Northwest says there are properties closer to Disney -and most people are surprised at the distances involved as Orlando is *huge* but very doable. (about 15 mins drive to Disney and about 20 mins to Universal). Close enough that if you want to go early in the day to the parks -return for lunch/nap/pool in the afternoon and go back when it's cooler and less crowded in the evenings you can - you'll see more the kids won't get as over stimulated and cranky and will see/do more.

Another vote for the Dibb-it's massive but will give you so many tips and ideas for things to do and ways to save (including buying the passes and the various options involved).

Weather and pricewise May will be cheaper for flights but August will be cheaper for accommodation as the US schools go back early/mid August but the weather is nicer in May - August can go over 100 degrees and lots of humidity and the likelihood of thunderstorms. That said there is a public holiday in the US (usually same as our Whitsun weekend) so that particular weekend parks will be very busy.
