Spending more than credit limit?

in Credit cards
I'll keep this short and sweet. My wife took out a credit card with 0% interest for 19months as we need to make a purchase on it (UK citizenship) and we thought why not spread the cost rather than paying on one go. The plan was sound except the cc company only gave her a limit of £1000 and we need to put £1005 on it. She called and other than being very rude to her they flatly said no.
I was wondering this, if we made a payment to the account prior to using it, say £10. Would this in effect give us a credit of £10 thus increasing the credit limit temporarily to £1,010 and that would enable us to compete the purchase for £1,005. Would this work or am I missing something?
Thanks everyone

Why not just ask the seller if they can break the transaction into 2? Shouldn't be an issue."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0

I thought of that. The "seller" is the home office and they don't like to make things easy for anyone!0

Bear in mind that putting a credit card in to credit (where they owe you money, not the other way around) goes against many banks' terms & conditions...Capital One Classic Extra £2,450 [06-2012]
Barclaycard Platinum £5,200 [08-2015]
Lloyds Bank Platinum £750 [11-2015]

Even thought the terms and conditions will state that you shouldn't put you card in credit, I wouldn't be surprised if such a small amount wouldn't be a cause for concern.
I would imagine that your plan would work.0 -
I am jealous of your applying for citizenship costing £1005.Last month I applied for mine, costing £1067,and was told if I hadn't had my application in by 6th April, the HO application fee was sky-rocketing to just under £1600 .
If your wife hasn't applied yet,I would just double -check both the fees due,and which form to fill out (I would imagine ther would be an updated form with the increase in fees).
Good luck.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
Pinecone £301,Valued Opinions £10.500 -
Thanks everyone. I will check the terms and conditions but I also think it should work - worth a try anyway!
Saver-Upper: the prices did indeed go up on 4th April (as they always do) but it only went up from 900 and something to the £1,005. My wife falls under the AN category so it should be £1,005 unless I'm missing something. What category were you under for it to cost that?0
