Equifax Problem

Hi guys, I am in the process of applying for a re mortgage, my chosen lender uses Equifax, I signed up for their free 30 day trial and had issues activating it, spoke to the lady on the phone, who I gave my date of birth too, she kept questioning it, but thought little of it, she asked about current and previous credit commitments (car etc) which I passed,

When I logged on I had a poor credit score (I know this is not the be all and end all...) with a big red against payment history, I have never missed a payment in my life, but looking further into it, the system shows no credit agreements... when I look further they have the wrong Date of birth (they have my wifes!)

Unfortunately they are now closed so I cant ring them again tonight, has anyone else had issues like this, will this effect my re mortgage?

I checked on credit expert (which cost me as I have used them in the past...) and everything is ok on their systems,

Thanks

Worried

Chris

Once you have your report there is an option to notify them of corrections through the site; you may well be asked for proof of the correction. Alternatively it's a phone call to get the correction done.

Make sure that any credit agreements, closed accounts, current accounts they do hold information about are correct; not all lenders report to all 3 agencies so there may be some agreements missing from Equifax that are on Experian. If lenders don't report to the agency then there probably isn't much you can do about it.

Personally I would cancel the subscription service immediately. You can get your statutory report for £2.00; even if you buy it every month it's still cheaper than any of the subscriptions. It doesn't give you a score but that doesn't mean anything anyway. The important bit is that the information they do hold is correct.
