How long do I need to keep old assignments?

I'm not sure that this belongs in this section as it's not about student money issues, nor perhaps an issue for current students, but I wasn't sure where else to put it. Perhaps someone can help though?
I need to have a clear out to create some space and am wondering whether to throw out my old uni assignments? These were written on paper (shows how old I am and how long ago this was - they are between 12 and 18 years old) and take up quite a bit of space. In the back of my head I keep thinking, ‘what if someone questioned anything to do with my degree, if I keep them then I have the evidence’ but on the other hand, I can’t possibly see why I’d need to keep them, I’m just a bit loathe to throw them out after all that work.
Any thoughts?

I don't think there's any requirement to keep hold of assignments other than for nostalgic purposes. You could always scan them into PDF documents and store them on your computer or a USB stick or even online if you feel like you're throwing away all your hard work.Apologies for any typos, my phone can't handle the forums.0

I agree that scanning is your best option.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Thanks, that's probably a good bet, it'll just take some time!0

Is any of your student work of any relevance to the work you now do? I'd be astonished if anyone would want to see assignments that you did yesterday, let alone 12 years ago.0

Yes, some of it is, especially my post grad work, but as you say, it's highly unlikely anyone would ever want to see it. I'm just wary of throwing it out. I think scanning is probably the best idea0

I graduated last year and aside from my dissertation, I don't have copies of anything.0

most people would have binned it years ago. i kept very little not even the dissertation. bin it and have the space.
really new articles and journals published since how accurate will the old paper work be0 -
Keep the assignments you are proud of, and those that have relevance for your current or future career. I still have my OU assignments from the 70s and 80s, which are interesting to look back on to say the least.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

Yes, Pandora, I think you hit the nail on the head - it's interesting to look back on them and having done OU too whilst struggling with a demanding full time job, it seems like a lot of work to just throw out!
Savingfortomorrow, I know that there's an inordinate amount of much more recent articles etc which I keep up to date with, but I was just loathe to bin all my hard work! I have however, now sorted through them (60 odd in total) and kept just a handful of interesting ones.0
