Take care where you pick blackberries - our offices are on an industrial estate that have masses of huge berries all over the place, but the land is contaminated which means that the berries will be (arsenic, lead and copper in our case). The other problem-site would be roadside bushes - I don't know whether this is still true (given that petrol is now lead-free) but the berries growing close to busy roads can be heavily contaminated with heavy metals from fuel fumes.

Surely Berryhill Farm is the PYO Farm which means paying!!! OMG we're moneysavers.

Plus, the woman who runs Berryhill used to be my boss - she's got quite enough money without us lot giving her even more.

I'm in Bridgend so can't help you with areas in Cardiff, but I did notice that there were lots of bushes around the Sully car boot fields.
You just need to look around the perimeters of fields and on commonland/waste ground.
Bramble bushes are pretty much a weed, so look where weeds grow. :)
I loved blackberry picking when I was a kid, it was a family activity. We used to go to the local common which also had a golf course on it. My brother and cousin and I used the bunkers like sandpits and made dens in the undergrowth!
    Your kids will love it.

Thank you Gigervamp. We're going to go for a walk today (in wellies and raincoats of course) and take some bags and see what we find. I'm looking forward to it.

Saw quite a few blackberries in the wetlands area of Cardiff Bay - very nice they were!
