British Gas default

Hi
I have just discovered a default which was put on my account that related to a rental property I had . I gave British Gas the final reading at the property before the new tenant moved in and my new address.
My tenant decided he did not want to pay me anymore half way through the tenancy and I had to evict him . It was then I found a 10 month old Bill for gas in my name .
I have since paid it but a default was put on my credit file. British Gas have told me they are not going to remove it as the Bill was correct.
This could effect my work within financial services so I'm beside myself with worry.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?

So you gave them a final reading, your tenant then set up an account in your name and did not pay it? you have a copy of your final bill and can prove you had a tenant responsible for the bills?
If so, try calling the ombudsman:

Its too easy to set up energy bills in any name, hence these kind of issues.:beer:0 -
no need to call the ombudsman, just provide proof of rental that's enoughDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Good point. Try sending BG the tenancy. Ombudsman if they still refuse.:beer:0
