Hi, I need some advice and not sure where to post, so please delete if necessary.

I have had multiple problems with Leeds, to many to list. However they are now demanding that I have to go down to my bank (halifax) and get a hand written Letter confirming I have been banking with them for the last 3 years and proof of address. (Regardless Leeds having all my bank statements for the last 3 year anyway.)

I just got back from my local Halifax branch where I was told they cannot hand write me a letter. All they can do is print off all my statements for the dates needed and officially stamp them confirming my address and that I should need anything else other than this. But leeds are refusing to accept this.

Where do I go from here? Is there anything else a bank can provide?

We have this problem all the time

Leeds will not accept copies of statements or internet statements for previous address it has to be posted ones

    Have you got anything like

Hmrc letter e.g tax coding notice
    Car insurance letter
Utility bill or council tax statement (not mobile)
    Mortgage statement
    Benefits statement from dwp

All above can be used if bank won't write a letter confirming that they have you listed at such and such an address from x date to y date or to the present day

Leeds have already had official posted statements and official branch statements (stamped)

    They refused car insurance letter,
    passport letters
    All Bank staments

and don't have any utility bills in my name as I am 21 and this would be me leaving home for the first time.

They have said in writing that if i don't produce this letter then they will end my application and they are not going to accept anything else!

(This problem has now been ongoing for 8 weeks!)

There is a list of documents they will accept ( ask your broker for it)

I have definitely been told car insurance document is ok as I have just had this with one of my clients

Has to be correct year and correct address

They will not budge so if you genuinely can't find anything and can't get the letter from Halifax then you will need to change lenders

I got my clients offer out from Leeds today but we had to get the bank letter in the end

How will i get this bank letter if halifax won't provide it?
Are halifax allowed to hand write a letter to confirm this?

I have been specifically told The will not accept Car insurance papers (even though they are accurate)
And they have rejected all Bank statements. (Even though they are accurate)

Ask your broker for the list of acceptable documents

If you can produce something on the list - great
If you can't you will have to ditch Leeds

I imagine your bank statements weren't the original ones which came through your door in 2012 or whatever the year is. If they were they would be accepted. If they are internet/ copies recently sent out to you then they won't accept it for proof of previous year

Are you not on the voters roll/ council tax? They are doing this as they can't trace you electronically so need physical proof

My bank statements I ordered online. I had to pay for each on as Halifax has a fee. and waited five days for them to arrive. I am also registered on the electoral role. Also Have experian file which proves this
I have spoken to my MA and he has no idea why they have rejected all original documentation

When you use the term MA you are making me think that you are using a mortage adviser who works out of an estate agent. It doesn't sound to me like you are using a mortgage broker. I could be wrong tho. A mortgage broker would easily be able to give you a list of the acceptable documents and would not be saying they have no idea why they've rejected all original documentation. Your Adviser is not experienced enough by the sounds of it. Either move to a broker or ask Leeds yourself for a list of the acceptable documents and go from there.
As haras says they want hard copy proof as they are not able to verify you electronically. As haras says online statements are not acceptable. Their mortgage lending, their rules and you may have to move lender if you can't meet their rules sadly.

    here is the current list

if you can't produce something on it then change lenders.

    • Benefit book or original letter from the Benefits Agency confirming rights to benefit or state pension
    • HMRC tax notification (tax assessment, statement of account or notice of coding; not P45 or P60)
    • A utility bill or prepayment certificate issued within the last 3 months (not acceptable if printed from
    the Internet)
    • A mortgage statement from a recognised lender (issued within the last 12 months)
    • A grant letter or student loan agreement from a Local Education Authority
    • Local Council rent card or tenancy agreement (documentation from a private landlord is not
    acceptable)
    • Bank or building society statement (issued within the last 3 months) (not acceptable if printed from the
    Internet)

Sorry I used the term MA as i call him mortgage adviser. However he is a private broker and has an excellent history and many years experience. From the get go Leeds have been extremely difficult. They deleted all my documents 3 times. They have spelt my name in wrong in checks then my address wrong. They keep saying they haven't received paper work, when they have. And every time they request something new we are bumped to the bottom of the pile. I can confirm they have received all of the right paperwork. The are just being extremely picky. This has gone on for 2 months now, and it looks like will have to move lender :(

Haras has just put the list in the post above yours which you might not have seen so take another look just in case you realise you can provide one of those items.
    Good luck.
