Baxi Bermuda Combi Boiler

We are in the process of moving to a new house. The house was built in the late 1950s and has gas central heating installed. Apparently the boiler was replaced in 2009 with a Baxi Inset Super Back Boiler 3BC. As far as I am aware the boiler has not been serviced since installation. Can anyone give me any guidance as to whether it is worth having it serviced and retained OR by replacing it. The boiler is located towards the centre of the building so is not on any external wall. If a new wall mounted boiler is installed it is likely to involve quite considerable re-piping.

Thanks in anticipation.

If it still works then leave it alone until it actually needs replacing or you want to get rid of it.

The cost of replumbing and a new boiler will far outweigh any savings that you might get from a more efficient boiler. You'll save more money by ensuring that you've got decent controls (programmable thermostat, trvs, tank stat etc) and that your insulation is up to scratch.

we moved into our house in 2007 and it has an ancient baxi bermuda back boiler, must be 20yrs+, its seemingly not even rated, never mind G rated, and its prob barely 50% efficient, but our plumber said its still cheaper to leave it there til it dies (if ever) than the cost of a new boiler plus re-piping and fitting, which will take years for the savings to pay back..

so we left it there, and apart from the annual service, 8yrs later no faults ever and still going strong.. and at the end of the day its a 3bed semi with family of 4, and my monthly DD is only £34pm for past few years and some years I end up in credit, so its hardly costing the earth...
