Advice to Newbies

Always, always, always contact the landowner and politely request cancellation of the PCN as your first priority in the process of getting your PCN cancelled. You will find them more receptive than you think.

My wife has recently had 2 PCN's cancelled by the administrators at Macclesfield Hospital after a call to them explaining the situation was an honest attempt to pay and an honest overstay by a short period - mitigation that PE was not even prepared to consider. In fact the person I spoke to wasn't all that interested in the reasons he was just happy to cancel it.

I suspect that we will shortly see a restructuring of how private car parks are operated (I know there is a judicial review going on) as it seems to me quite ludicrous that you have to go the extensive trouble of producing a long complicated defence which is quite difficult for most of us to write let alone the elderly, vulnerable or sick.

The people who run these companies are really quite sadistic in the manner in which their PCN's are sent out - just frightening the ill-informed into paying far too high an amount. They would have much more success, as I think has been stated on these forums, if they charged an honest GEPL, however I suspect that the people who run these Companies really just want to quick easy £££'s from those who don't understand.

For all you Users who work in or run these dreadful business's (I have read some of your infantile posts), spare a thought for the sick, elderly or vulnerable whom you have frightened unnecessarily, think about it when you go to sleep tonight, think about how it could be someone vulnerable you know. Or maybe you won’t bother because you just don’t really care.

Congratulations on making a really useful contribution to the World.

What more is there to be said?
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Well said, it looks like the owners of Fistral Beach have listened to their customers, so contacting the landowners and reporting your experiences may make a difference.
