I use cheap shower caps to cover the bowl when I make bread and also to cover bowls especially in the summer when we are eating in the garden, I always carry a couple of see through ones in my bag when I am on the scooter so if it starts raining I just cover the control unit and the basket which keeps everything dry, works like a charm and a hell of a lot cheaper than the ones that are sold for mobility scooters, they are also good for showers as well
That's genius :T think I'll borrow that idea.

Hey everyone, I've really enjoyed reading through all the latest amazing ideas here. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and creativity:
Spendless; Thanks for the idea of reusing the cereal bag. That's similar to what I do - reusing old veggie bags. For water bottles, contact Dan at Onya - he's fantastic and will give you advice. Tell him I sent you.
Luxor4t - thanks for that link and I like the idea of lining the veg rack - stops those cauliflower leaves and broccoli bits getting everywhere!
Brilliant idea for using the greenhouse MrsLurcherWalker; I currently use it for drying clothes when it's raining! And kudos to you for saving all those rubber bands; I can't remember the last time I actually bought any...
SailorSam, I grab all those free rubber bands from the postie too! Thanks for your idea about reusing cereal bags.
Great idea for the 'forgotten my bag again' checkout conundrum, Susan1962 - thanks for sharing!
Hey WantAnOrange; I just used old tea towels cut up for reusable wipes. And used a mix of sesame oil (my DD's skin was dry) along with witch hazel - as an astringent for cleaning off you know what; it worked perfectly and I must have saved a fortune. Love the sound of your wash solution, Sirens.
Thanks for starting the hankie conversation, GreenQueen. While I totally respect concerns from kboss2010 regarding hygiene; I'm from a 'peck of dirt' mentality and saw my grandparents, all of whom lived well into their 80s using hankies... Maybe in environments where immune systems are compromised the bag and bin it message is necessary and a good precaution to take.
Loving that porrage idea kboss2010; I've thought about making my own but figured the porrage must be more dusty than the oats I buy - I just can't see them mixing in. Off to Aldi I go then!
meritaten - give mama a high five from me and yes I DO remember those dishes and the delights that came inside!
THanks Slinky; I don't have a microwave but I put those bowls to good use because the plastic is so thick, so they last well. I just use them for storing leftovers in the fridge or keep one on the work surface to put scraps in for the hens.
THanks for the headsup on new prices for travel mugs, VfM4meplse
Thriftmonster, I do a similar thing with a small insulated bag whenever we go out for the day. I saw one the other day that had an ice pack you could put beneath the sandwich box too - I thought that was a fab idea if you wanted to eat salady foods on the go.
sistercas; you're doing brilliantly. I have a challenge for you! If you're removing food and icky things from your bin, could you go bin bag free? Think of all those savings adding up! It would be a great pledge for Zero Waste Week if you're joining in!
Butterfly Brain; you taught me something new - I'm off to shine my taps with a cereal bag! And I'm loving all those shower cap ideas. Oh yes, and the number of cake tins I've lost to the man shed over the years <rolls eyes>“Official Company Representative
