Paid CCJ after 6 years

Hi Everyone, first post but just after a little info really!

7-8 years ago I stupidly took on more debt than I could afford to pay, ending up with a CCJ, which is dated 21st May 2009 on my Experian report. I couldn't afford to pay it off within the 5 weeks, so applied for a variation order for monthly payments - I put all my money into it and paid the debt off 1 year later.

I have tried really hard to stay debt free since them, although 2 years ago I got accepted for a credit card (capital one for bad credit) with a really low limit. I have been using this and then paying it of when due without fail for the 2 years - My credit score ranges from 800 -950 depending on if I have anything on the card as the time the report is generated. The only negatives I have on my account are the CCJ and the fact that my only credit (CC) is a low limit indicating higher risk.

My question is...

The CCJ will be 6 years old on 21st of the month. Me and my wife are expecting a baby at the end of the year, we live in a 1 bedroom flat that she owns (mortgage) and she has a excellent credit rating. As you can imagine we are keen to move into a house ASAP. Do I need to do anything at the end of the money to get the CCJ removed from my credit file, or will it just drop off? Experian seem to update my file about once a month, so am I right in thinking it should disappear on the next update after the 21st?

Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the long post!

Shaun

It will drop off of Experian on the 22nd May. However it may take 3-4 weeks longer for Callcredit and Equifax to take it off their systems, so before applying for anything else make sure you do your £2 statutory report on both of these. This happened to me as my primary account is with Experian but I had to wait a few extra weeks with the other 2 companies for the expired CCJ to come off my files. I have recently just opened up a 0% 23 month credit card too which I would never have got before. I know to be a lot more careful in the future with money though and not to get myself into any financial trouble.

Good Luck and Congrats on the Baby.
