O/S Daily Friday 1st May 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning all,

its been a long time since I started the daily thread but I'm here, I'm awake, checking on my daughters flight to the UK. The flight is still listed at being scheduled (not yet in flight) in Dubai but its due to take off any minute now.

    http://uk.flightaware.com/live/flight/UAE39/history/20150501/0350Z/OMDB/EGBB

The birds are singing but I'm a bit chilly so I'm off back to bed.

The onwards and forwards will have to wait an hour or two.

Have a great bank holiday weekend all.

    Morning all,

Thank you Judi for starting the thread, and are you just a little excited:j:j:j:j

I hope you have a wonderful time with your daughter, her partner and young Soldier, you have so much to catch up on, and then of course the wedding, no wonder you are awake early.

A little overcast here, Himself still in bed and I am sitting here with my coffee, all quiet.

    Have a good weekend everyone

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off this morning Judi.

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, mixture of sun and light cloud, and breezy – air still feels cold too. Load of washing to go on the line shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit as no school due to a training day, will wake him later.

Dinner last night was egg, bacon, beans and chips – had a whole packet of unopened bacon that needed using up – refuse to throw that much food away – so will keep adjusting the menu to suit what we have.

Tonight will be disjointed as we’re going away but DS1 isn’t coming with us. DH has said we’ll go tonight but I’m completely expecting him to change his mind at some point today and say he wants to go in the morning instead especially as it’s a bank holiday – it’s daft really as where we are going is only 10 possibly 15 miles at most away but a lovely spot. Spoke to our friends last night who are also going, so will be good to catch up with them. I’m just do whatever!

I was reasonably productive yesterday, did get the washing, drying and most of the ironing done, what’s left is what wasn’t dry enough to iron, but will do that today. Did get some housework done, and got more done in the kitchen and bathrooms, also made a start in DS2’s bedroom, so am pleased I’ve managed to find some get up and go, hoping to make some more use of it before it get’s up and is gone! This morning I’ll be heading to town to the bank, then on to food shopping – once that’s done, I’ll continue with what ironing there is and then pack.

    Happy Fridays’ everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

Morning one and all. JUDI I can feel your excitement! What a happy little soul Soldier looks. Have a wonderful time together and make the best of every single minute!

It's a lovely start here and the forecast is sun for most of the day (shame about the 10 deg temp!) As soon as Mr TA gets up our bed is getting stripped and the bedding bunged in the washer. Even the base valance is going in this time. I love our superking bed - until it comes to washing all the bedding and putting it back on again. Definitely a two person job getting the duvet back in the cover or I end up in there with it!!

After that, being a Friday, it's a clean up day. I can't believe how quickly these Fridays come round!

After shopping yesterday I had a sort out of the freezers and can't believe how much fish I have in there. Good job we both like fish so sea bass earmarked for tonight and a fish pie planned for tomorrow night. I still have an abundance of last year's foraged fruit in the chest freezer so really must use some up before it's picking time again!

Have a good day all and ((((((((( BIG HUG )))))))) to those who need one xx ps welcome Rdone, nice to meet you! To join in the D debate I have always thought it meant Dear or Dearest!

    Morning All

Bright and sunny today, yesterday was too although there was a horrible shower just as I left work but nothing here.

One load of washing done, waiting for another before I peg it out, I'll open the little greenhouse too. DW on and doing its stuff, going to make myself a salad for lunch.

I ate at the hospice last night, S&S pork and rice. DD had a packet of filled pasta when she got in from work around 8. Salmon and veggies tonight.

Judi - I feel excited for you! Enjoy your time with your DD, her partner and Soldier, hope your OH changes his mind and enjoys their company too.
Elona - Sounds like a lovely place, it will give you peace of mind knowing how well DH is being looked after.
BB - Pleased to hear you have an appt with the doctor.
    MeanMarie, how is your DIL?
    Welcome to the Daily Rdone.

Have a happy Friday, take care. XX

To join in the D debate I have always thought it meant Dear or Dearest!

I was told (by a board guide) years ago that it was Dear ! so that's what I always think of it as.

    Morning all,

Judi have a fab tome with your DD and little soldier, what a handsome little lad xx

Bit cooler here today off to work for me today at the other site so don't enjoy that as much, but at least its Friday and hopefully the day will wiz by !

Not sure about dinner tonight might be a takeaway I am always shattered on a Friday night after a long week and a takeaway is a nice treat.

Need to do a wash tonight and get on the airer and have a quick hoover round.

    Morning everyone from sunny Glasgow.

Off shortly to the station for my London trip. Using my senior railcard I treated myself to a first class carriage. It's a bit indulgent but I booked so far ahead that it was a great deal and so I can call it a 'bargain'.

Judi - I'm so excited for you! Seeing your daughter and her family after all this time is brilliant. Hope thst you all have a wonderful time. Leave behind those of a less positive attitude.

Right, quick cup of tea and I'm off. Taking the car to near the bus stop and leaving it in a side street next to a friends house.

I really hope everyone has a peaceful and happy Bank
    Holiday weekend.
  • Good Morning everyone, cloudy and chilly here this morning but at least it's dry. He Who Knows and the lurcha are out walking and I'm off to strip the beds and wash the linen in a moment. I'm on my own for a couple of days, (DD1 needs a few little jobs doing at home) and I'm going to have a couple of days cooking from my wartime recipe books so lunches will be oatmeal soup and toasted wheatmeal bread and suppers will be carrot roll, steamed veg and gravy and baked apple with sultanas and cinnamon along with some custard. Nice to be able to have a few things that only I like and save some pennies too as I've everything I need in already.

JUDI have such a lovely time with your DD and Soldier, there's nothing like the feeling when you first hug a grandchild is there? enjoy every second!

Have yourselves a nice day all, Lyn xxx.
