It is a contract so not forever, could make the journey for 6 months max but no longer as hate commuting.. will see if it comes up for sure but wanted to know just in case.

How does one get in/out of tube stations with a paper ticket though?

    Scratching head....

Just checked and there is probably a bus ride from Reading station to the client site.. sighhhh or a 20-30 minute walk. With a 2 hour commute would not want a long walk on top of it so would have to get a bus on the other end too...Oh dear

    Thanks again

    JP08 - that is true.

I also have Hammersmith and City Line that goes from East Ham directly to Padington and that probably would be even better option as it only starts at Barking so one normally still gets a seat in East Ham.

And I have to take a bus anyway to Wanstead or Leytonstone or Manor Park so may as well take one to East Ham and go that way.

Just realised that after your post as used to work in Paddington and was going that way.

Always promised myself that will avoid central line at all cost - it is murder in peak times.

    Thanks

If you use the national Rail season ticket calculator and put in Reading to (say) Liverpool Street it will give you the zone 1-6 inclusive price

Thanks - can not get that to work. Tried Manor Park to reading and Liverpool Street to Reading and both come with
Season tickets are available for all short distance and some longer journeys. There is no season ticket option available between the stations you have chosen.

Only when I select Paddington to Reading it works and shows £105.10 weekly but does not mention oyster for the tube (or inclusive of tube) anywhere.

Sorry - I am so rubbish with trains, never really use them

Bus? From East London to Reading? No idea but I guess it would take ages... Still I need a 1-3 or 1-4 oyster or whatever other form of season ticket for London Underground anyway so need to combine that with Railcard for the Paddington-Reading part.

    Thanks

If you ask the question in the other direction - starting at Reading TO Manor Park - it will give you the combined ticket. Why it's pernickety like this - pass.

To work the tube barriers you put the ticket in the slot, it checks it, spits it out and opens the gate

Small extra complication - Reading West is actually better but can not find direct trains from London Paddington to Reading West. There are direct trains from reading West to London Paddington but not from London Paddington to Reading West. So an extra change there or a very long walk or bus, will see..

Well no there's not, not really. Just 3 a day in the morning peak which is presumably when you'll be travelling in the other direction
